Satoshi Hoshino graduated in piano from Kunitachi College of Music. While enrolled, his focus was on the accompaniment of vocal music, but after graduating, he turned to singing. He studied at Nikikai Opera Studio and the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music's Vocal Music department, where he eventually completed graduate studies in Opera.

In 1992, Hoshino made his opera debut in the title role of Don Giovanni. He made subsequent appearances as Marcello and Schaunard (La Bohème), Escamillo (Carmen), Scarpia (Tosca), Amonasro (Aida), Golaud (Pelléas et Mélisande), Sharpless (Madama Butterfly), Tonio (Pagliacci), Falke (Die Fledermaus), and in a great number of other operas.

In concert, he served as soloist in works such as Beethoven's 9th Symphony, Bach's St. Matthew Passion and St. John Passion, Handel's Messiah, Fauré Requiem, Brahms' German Requiem, and Gounod's St. Cecilia Mass.

In recent performances, Hoshino cemented his reputation as a soloist with the NHK Symphony Orchestra (Henze's Venus and Adonis), the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra (Mayuzumi Toshiro's Records of Ancient Matters), and the Tokyo City Philharmonic (Mendelssohn's St. Paul oratorio).

In addition, he assumed the role of conductor in performances such as Brahms' German Requiem, Orff's Carmina Burana, Fauré's Requiem, Duruflé's Requiem, Handel's Messiah, Vivaldi's Gloria and so forth, and is widely active as an accompaniment pianist for singers.

Mr. Hoshino is currently a member of Nikikai and the Japan Federation of Musicians.
